Abigail Chay

If you watch a lot of Singapore series, you might recognize this actress.

Yeap, the first time I saw her acting in 'Money Not Enough', I laughed so hard that I could die. Well, that was many years ago. You may laugh so hard last time but behind this lady, it used to be a man who was determined to go against all odds to make his dreams come true. Yeap, Abigail Chay used to be a guy and he went for a sex change.

You might feel somewhat-against this sex change thingy, like ewwww! Pondans!, that's how I used to think, but not until I watched this show. It's called 'Life Story'. And in this episode, it is about Abigail's true story behind her comedian acting and all. She actually had a very sad story behind her sex change. And now I'm confused whether 'sex change' is right or wrong.

Here are the videos, it's only about 15 minutes long. I do recommend you watch it. It's kinda funny and it did touched my heart a little and made me learned a few lessons from it.

Part 1/4

Part 2/4

Part 3/4

Part 4/4

Basically, the story talks about how Abigail, since young, knew that he was a woman trapped in a man's body. At that time, he was known as Caesar Chay and how he used to day-dream about becoming a lady in real life. How he used to join the girls and play dolls and not play football with the guys, how he used to have secret crushes on guys. He tried very hard to be a guy, he even served NS in Singapore, but as time pass by, he finally made the decision to undergo sex change. To become who he really is, her true personality. A woman.

After the change, she continues to find many tough challenges in her life. Like how she was dumped by her fiance on her marriage, how people took her for granted and blackmailed her, how people teased and laughed at her. Her parents however continued to be supportive of her. What I really liked about this show is that she acted in the show herself! What a courage!

Many people would like whisper behind her back and insult her, but she will always show u that big smile of hers. She has a 'tolerance of a steel' and she doesn't blame them at all. She says it's okay for people to be curious. I think most girls would probably break down and cry. I kinda feel damn bad for laughing at her so much last time.

See, the thing is many of you would like tell me, "Hey jY, that's a guy you're talking about there man! Of course lah, she can tahan all these challenges and all, and how she won't get emotional easily and all". But you're wrong. She's actually a woman trapped in a guy's body. She has the feelings of a woman, the heart of a woman, the thinking of a woman and the desire to be a woman. I mean, isn't it pitiful that she's trapped in man's body. It's not like she asked for it or anything. Imagine if you were a girl trapped in a guy's body. Or the other way round. She's a woman by all means.

So now, what I don't get is how some girls who are already pretty, complain about how 'ugly' they look, or how 'not perfect' they are, or whatever la. Please lah, cherish yourself, cherish everything that you have now. This Abigail Chay is given a man's body and yet she still can be proud of herself and be happy with life. After all, she believes that true femininity
is not based on how well you gesture-ise yourself, but how sincere you are and how soft you are when you deal with people. So, we really shouldn't judge people by their looks.

I'm not saying looks don't count, but it only matters in first impressions. Now I do seem to understand why people meant by 'the true beauty is in your heart'. The inner-beauty. This show, to be frank, touched my heart. When I used to see her last time, I was like kinda, "Yerrr, why got woman in the world like this one??", but not anymore. This show has made me realized something that I can't really explain. All I know is that, just cherish everything that belongs to you now, you'll never really how important they are until you have lost them. I'm not just talking about looks, I'm also talking about your friends, your family, your lovers etc. etc. Cherish everything about them. It's about their personality which makes you love them. I've also learnt that parents will always be there for you. So do whatever you can to make them proud.

Conclusion? You don't have to pretty from the outside. It'll fade one day. It's the inner-beauty that would stay and ultimately attract friends and someone who will deserve you. Cheers Abigail Chay! You Rock!
